Popular Mechanics recently said about the revolution:
“We don't normally endorse anything sold via infomercials. But testing is believing and the Bowflex Revolution is the first Bowflex we've tried that lives up to its own hype. Using plates filled with coiling elastic straps - technology developed to fight muscle atrophy suffered by the International Space Station's occupants - this compact gym provides, smooth constant resistance for a huge range of exercises. The resistance plates are useful for isolating muscles and avoiding potential injuries, making this machine a perfect fit for physical therapy as well as standard workouts. The gym's footprint shrinks to 55x37 in. with the arms and bench folded - small enough for an apartment, or possibly a space station.”

Bowflex Revolution - Space age technology you can workout on!
|
From Nautilus, Inc comes the latest in Bowflex technology.
The technology behind the Bowflex Revolution was developed after studying an astronaut training technique. Astronauts lose a significant amount muscle mass when in space. So NASA developed a resistance training routine in order to combat the muscle loss. Bowflex has taken the technology and applied it to the Revolution. Pretty cool.
One thing I noticed right off the bat about this machine is that it’s quiet – great when you live in a condo and don’t want those picky neighbors complaining. The machine is very smooth – moves don’t feel jerky movements and there’s no chafing action: this is usually a sign of a constructed machine.
What about the workouts? All together there are more than 100 exercise options. The exercises can be performed with up to 220 pounds of resistance. You can order an extra resistance plate that adds 80 pounds, but it runs around $100. An upgrade will also get you to 600 pounds for leg workouts. I think these weight amounts are more than most people will ever need. The bottom line with the workouts is that you can feel the burn on this machine.
Although the machine is large, about 9’x5’ and 6’ high, it folds up to around 55” by 37”.
It’s not quite as big though (especially tall) as some of the other Bowflex models.
Just a note:
you’ll want to set up the Revolution where you plan to use it; it’s no piece of cake to move.
Overall, I think this is a really great machine for someone who is serious about working out.
And with payments of $38 per month, comes in a bit cheaper than most gym memberships.
