The Bowflex Ultimate XTLU is one serious piece of gear - 90 exercises possible.
Like all Bowflex models it works on a pulley and rod system. The more rods you hook onto the cable, the more resistance you get. The Ultimates come with 310lbs standard (upgradable to 410lbs. Bowflexes all fold and roll on wheels for easy storage
The XTLU has a lat attachment (pulldowns and the like) which is indispensable. The angled bar is fantastic. And the built-in adjustable pulley system is designed top change the angle of resistance which I find to be VERY helpful.
My fancy health club does not have a SINGLE lat machine with this feature.
There is a bulit in rowing machine (very smooth and quiet). This is great for cardio workouts (fat burning) and for warming up and cooling down.
The low pulley/squat station with straight squat bar is used for squats and to work the glutes, hamstrings and quads .
Progress management is a breeze. There's a wall chart,
a video and an unbeatable guarantee and warantee on the rods.
If you are the type of person who enjoys working out in the comfort and privacy of your own home, and are truly interested in developing or maintaining a great physique, take a serious look at Bowflex. I highly recommend all of the Bowflex systems, but most avidly the Ultimate XTLU. It's not the top of the range, nor the bottom - but it is a feature filled, well made and well designed home gym.
