Proactiv Solution uses a 3 step system to fight acne.
The renewing cleanser exfoliates the skin and applies benzoyl peroxide.
The active ingredient benzoyl peroxide is the same as used in most over the counter acne treaments.
The second step involves applying a revitalizing toner designed to unclog pores without using an alcohol solution.
Step 3 uses a repairing lotion with more of the active ingredient benzoyl peroxide.
There doesn't seem to be anything revolutionary in the active ingredients of the product.
i.e. they're just using the same benzoyl peroxide that's been known to heal acne for years.
However,
their 3 step approach may have merit in its ability to motivate the user/customer to stick with the program and put more thought into healing their acne.
By making the treatment more involved the customer may spend more time and care using the product.

i`ve had acne for pretty much most of my life, starting in maybe 4th or 5th grade, so right there you know i`ve had acne for a WHILE. having it for so long, i was desperate to try anything and everything on the shelves of CVS or any other drug store. My mom first bought it for me in 7th grade, where i think it was at it`s worst, and i have to say, this is the greatest product that i`ve ever used. I started to become more outgoing and social, and i can`t stop looking in the mirror and seeing my face acne-free! i love proactiv!

3 Weeks = BIG DIFFERENCE !

I bought the 5 peice deluxe kit for 120 dollars at my local mall, and the physician there told me the first 3 steps were only to be used ONCE a day for a week, then during the 2nd week u can start using is twice a day if needed, as well, u can start using the refining mask up to 3 times a week.
I followed these instructions for the first 3 days and noticing that mi skin was already used to the benzoyl peroxide, i began using it twice a day so that mi face would clear up faster. It worked. Then i got to thinking that i could eat CHOCOLATE and drink POP without getting breakouts.... WRONG!!!
If ur using proactiv and u want to maintain a clear complexion, get a lot of excersise, this allows oxygen to flow into ur blood & can even make ur face looked more tanned rather than dull. If u notice that certain foods or sugary drinks make u break out just cut back on the junk food & drink tons of water.
in other words, dont be an IDIOT. the booklets that come with the kits tell u these things.

Extreme Redness
I tried proactive and my face is beet red!
My acne has not cleared up either and it has been almost a month.
Will the redness ever go away?
I use sunscreen and am not outside much.

I didn`t start getting acne till my mid twenties. I had the occaisional breakout in high school, but nothing like now. I just started Proactiv three days ago and already I`ve noticed a HUGE diffrence. My skin is smoother and there have been no new breakouts and the ones I already had have started to clear up. I`m used to waking up to new breakouts every morning. I was a little worried about it drying out my skin so I use the repairing lotion at night and the oil free moisture in the morning, which seems to be working so far. Give it a try!!

I have been using proactiv for less than a week and already I see improvement. Other then a little dryness and a little redness at some spots, proactiv really seems to have made my skin a lot better already. I am just hoping greatly that this product won`t stop working for me. I am already quite satisfied yet i dont want to be to quick to crown it king!

I love,love, love Proactiv. I changed my birth control pills to a lower dose and my face started acting up bad. I went to the mall and purchased Proactiv 3 piece kit. For the first month or so My skin got worse. I have been using it now for 4 months. It is wonderful. I use the wash twice a day, the toner twice a day and the lotion at nite.
I am a forever customer.

I have always been waiting for my proactiv package to arrive and when it did, i was so excited to start it that i used it twice a day already.The first few days, my skin texture improved a lot but going to the 6th and 7th day, i have never flaked and dried my face that way before.now i reduced the application of the repairing lotion to once a day only, every night and I think it started to return to its normal state again little by little...my only advaise to you is to start with it only at night until your face gets accustomed to it.But so far, it has cleared my forehead which was so bad.I`m just off to my second week and i`ll tell you the results after the 3-6 weeks process.

I had my first ever dose of acne at mid-16, and it was just a decent amount, however I started to use proactiv and my face really cleared up. I was more active, I went out more, and I went to study in Europe for one semester and thought I should stop using it
because it was expensive and I was clear, by end of my 3 month trip in Europe, I started to break out, the worse ever...and since I had spent all my money in europe I decided to go with something cheaper, and I used Neutrogena advanced system. that just dried and cracked my skin. So I scrapped up money and now am back on Proactiv. I has helped me so much, but I still have acne, however I am giving it some more time. But If my skin clears up like last summer I will never stop using proactiv...you should really try it, besides if it doesnt work
just return it for a refund.

I have been using Proactiv for over 3 years now and am still amazed each day by the product!
I was in my late twenties when I made my first trip to the dermatologist.
I did not have acne as a teen so I was mortified to get it as an adult! I left the dr. with 3 prescriptions; one for an antibiotic, one for a face cleanser and then a toner.
My insurance didn`t cover the prescriptions so it was a little over $200.
I had monthly check ups at the dr on my progress and I noticed no improvement.
This went on for 3 months and I finally decided to order Proactiv.
I had become very concerned with taking the antibiotic continually and plus my pocketbook was hurting with all the prescription cleanser and toner.
With all that I had spent thus far $40 was a drop in the bucket!
Within a week of using Proactiv my face was clear!
I have recommended to friends, colleagues and anyone I hear complaining of acne.
I have heard nothing but success from anyone that I recommeded it to.
Great products!
My favorite is the Oil free moisturizer.

I love Proactiv!! I have been using it for almost 2 years now and I believe it works better than prescriptions from dermatologists! I used everything from retin-a micro, to differin gel, and then to Duac. Nothing helped my acne more than Proactiv.

The best yet

I have been using proactive for two years now and I haven`t gotten any since. I had cystic acne and it was really bad. Two weeks after I started using it, I saw a remarkable result. The more I use it, the smoother and finer my skin got. After one year of using it, my skin totally cleared up and I`ve never looked back. It is the best so far. The only downside to it are it`s price, availability, and quantity. It`s very expensive. The combination therapy lasted me for about 2 monthz when I use it only at night; however it only lasts a month when I use it day and night. BUT the effectiveness of this product compensates for it`s pricey value. It`s definitely worth it

I`ve been using proactiv for about 8 months and I haven`t really seen a difference.
I did notice however that my acne did not get worse.
I think that it is also a little expensive.

I have had breakouts on my chin and nose for over 10 years. My skin was rough and I had tons of red marks from previous acne. I had tried benzoyl peroxide alone, salycylic acid, retin-A, everything. Nothing helped. I saw results with Proactiv in about 3 weeks, and my skin has changed completely. It is not rough anymore and looks much healthier. My red marks have all but disappeared and I don;t even have to wear makeup anymore.
Sticking to use every day is important- skipping a day is never good for me. Also, I only use at night- otherwise my skin gets really dry and flaky.

I have oily skin and when I was young and all the way up to high school I would break out. The zits would be small to huge...I would try makeup to cover it all up! With Pro-activ my zit problems were solved. I don`t have the acne problem I had before and I am so proud that I don`t wear makeup, except on my eyes and lips. I still have an oily skin problem, but the acne one was hurting me the most!

I`ve always had acne problems. One day I just got completely fed up and ordered Proactiv. I was willing to try anything. I`ve been using this product for a little over a year now and my skin is so much clearer than it has ever been. It really works. I started to notice a slight difference after only a week!
However, while my skin got used to the product it was pretty dry, but I continued using it and the dryness didn`t last long. You really have to be religious about this, though. If I skip a day or two of using it, I break out and I know a few other people who`ve said that too.
Overall, a really fantastic product!

Help! Getting Acne @ 30!

Never had an acne problem until now. It cleared up my facial acne. I still get tiny bumps on my face though. This product worked best on my body acne; arms and back. But overall my skin is more consistently clear and softer.
